As above I'm having problems getting my pc to boot.

This was working perfectly till yesterday and everything is about 4 months old.

All I did was shut down the pc and start it again to be greeted with what sounds like a continuous ticking noise every 3 seconds. I found out this was the internal speaker. Not sure why it wasn't beeping as it does normally.

When doing this the display would stay off but the pc lights up and the fans run.

I thought it was the gpu making the noise so I removed that and connected to the on board graphics. Same problem.

The next thing I did was to remove 1 stick of ram. It booted straight up with 1 beep. Great or so I thought till I tried to do a reboot. Same problem, just trying to beep once every 3 seconds.

I've tried all combinations of installing the ram in different slots etc and it will boot once when I've adjusted the ram but only once. Always on the second boot it goes into the 3 second beep loop.

Any ideas?

Set memory timings manually in BIOS, underclock the ram if needed.

It sounds like it is detecting a change in ram and booting at "safe" memory speeds, then setting timings and speeds from SPD for next boot, which causes it to fail to boot. Removing/Adding some ram means it detects a RAM change again and goes back to safe speeds.

If you set it in bios on the first boot after putting all the ram in to 1333mhz and loose-ish timings, does it boot a 2nd time?

I'm new to pc's mate. Will it list memory timings in the bios as "timings" what do I set it to? I'll have to have a look tonight as I'm at work at the moment.

So if it does boot up the second time after being underclocked etc is the ram faulty?

Thanks for the help.

Edit, so basically enter the ram timings that's on the side of the ram manually and then lower the speed to 1333mhz. Got ya.
