Need some help please!

So heres the problem, my laptop internet connection seems to have at some point (possibly never) stopped letting the majority of my programs which accesses the internet get to the internet! It will not let, firefox, limewire, bittorent, skype, or any games access the internet. Not it is not my router as the house computer which uses the same router as my laptop works perfect! I have tried opening ports in the firewall, turning it off, and many other fixes to try and solve my problem, but none has helped. Anyone have any clue as to what might be wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers guys.

really quick thing to try and find where the issue is, are you using the laptop over wireless? does the same thing happen if you plug it in to the router?

As above, try plugging it in if you are on wireless. Then:

Step1, run "ipconfig /all" in command prompt. Check the IP, mask, gateway and DNS are correct.
Step2, can you ping the gateway?
Step3, can you ping your DNS servers?
