Need some help - Possible Bottleneck

Hey guys, just a quick question regarding my new build. (Sorry if this is in wrong section)

I'll start by giving my main specs:
Mobo: Gigabyte 970A-UD3
GPU: AMD Radeon 7850 XFX Edition (Core clock - 860MHz, Memory Clock - 1200MHz)
CPU: AMD FX-6200
RAM: 4gb DDR3 1600mhz

I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to PC building but when building this PC the components seemed fine but then looking into bottlenecking etc I think my CPU may be bottlenecking my GPU because of low FPS when playing things like skyrim

I ran some FRAPS benchmarks for 20 seconds each on BF3 (Ultra - no AA) in 1920x1080 and 1280x720 and both tests were similar which I hear means it's bottlenecked.

1920x1080 Results - Frames: 2013 - Time: 20000ms - Avg: 100.650 - Min: 88 - Max: 107

1280x720 Results - Frames: 2034 - Time: 20000ms - Avg: 101.700 - Min: 94 - Max: 106

If it is bottlenecked then please could someone offer some advice on what CPU I should get, I mainly use it for gaming. I hear AMD's CPUs are generally bad so I could get another motherboard for an Intel CPU but I don't even know where to start, i'm looking to spend around £200 - £250 and live in the UK.

Thanks in advance! ;)

Welcome to the forums! :)

Sounds to me like a bottleneck somewhere, although I am not too experience in bottlenecking as I've never had any experience with it really. Perhaps someone else can give some input into that?
However, if you are looking to upgrade then I can definitely help with that :D
Something like this would be nice:
YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £167.99
1 x Asus P8Z77-V LX2 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £69.98
Total : £248.77 (includes shipping : £9.00).

Just curious, you haven't had a different graphics card installed in it before, only because the drivers may be conflicting?

Have you overclocked your current CPU and GPU ? It's a shame if you only bought it in December and are looking to upgrade so soon.
You could order an 8gb ram kit and see if it helps with the system overclocked. Make sure you have a decent cooler though.
Also what power supply do you have ?

No I haven't bothered overclocking anything yet, not clued in enough at the moment :D And my PSU is a 750W modular Antec. Yeah I suppose it is quite a shame but these things have to be done and I can't let my CPU lower the performance of the machine :/

If you bought a cooler such as the one below you could overclock your cpu and see if it makes a difference. If it doesnt then you can upgrade to an i5 and still use the cooler as it fits multiple sockets.

Rather than spend a few hundred quid you could maybe try this option first ?

Im not clued up on overclocking, but im sure there are many on here that will help you, and you always have google too :D

YOUR BASKET
1 x Be Quiet! Shadow Rock Pro SR1 CPU Cooler (Socket 775 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 / AM2 / AM2+ / AM3 / FM1 / FM2) £34.79
Total : £44.69 (includes shipping : £8.25).

How much of a difference can overclocking make? Apparently the 6200 has a turbo function of up to 4.1GHz, how long would it last while overclocked with the stock cooler do you think?

I wouldnt overclock using a stock fan, although if the cpu has a boost function then the stock one should cope with that. If you get a good aftermarket cooler then you can try and push it further.

Your motherboard has Easytune which allows you to monitor temps and AMD overdrive which is the overclocking software.

Like i said before you dont really have anything to lose by overclocking your current system, and you should see a decent performance increase. Plus when Haswell comes out later in the year there should hopefully be a price drop on the current i5 cpu's.

Also make sure you have a good power supply to cope with all this :D

You'll get linear gains from overclocking your cpu, so it's very much worth doing. Pick up a £15-£25 cooler and have a go at it. If you're thinking of upgrading it you haven't got anything to lose so you may as well. You'd be surprised how easy it is.

Thanks again guys for the feedback. I decided to have a bit of a mess around with the power settings on my pc and it was on balanced, I changed it to high performance (can't believe I didn't think of this sooner) and it now has a solid performance when gaming, I am definitely going to upgrade to intel but not right now :) Thanks again guys!
