Soooo... this is what i have

CPU: Atlhon x2 5200+ (@3.1 Ghz)
GPU: XFX HD5770 (930/1400)
RAM: 4gb DDR2
OS: Windows 7 pro 64 bits
Monitor: Samsung 740nw (1280x720)

Ok, so im about to upgrade my pc... but i dont know if i should go for:

A) keep the 5770, and go for the i5 2500k + Gygabyte P67-D3-B3 + 4-8GB RAM
B) Change the GPU (maybe a 6870 or so), and the CPU for a Phenom II x4 955 + MoBo + 4GB RAM

if you ask me, since im going to keep my monitor for quite some time now (maybe 2 years...) im leaning towards the option A), since going for a phenom (while may allow me to get a better card) seems like a dead-end, with just a year or so of "gaming", and with that resolution (1280x720) i dont see how much i would benefit from a 6870 to sacrifice going for the i5 2500k.

i rather have a "top notch" CPU now... but i dont know, how do guys think my 5770 would handle BF3/Skyrim (and soon to come games) in 1280x720 ?

Whats your actual budget?
Whats your current mobo?
If youre after playing BF3 then youll definitely want a better gfx card, pref better than a 6870

i dont "have" an actual bdget, but i dont want to spend more than those 2 options...

i dont really want to max the game, medium/high at 50fps its more than enough for me... so i hope that a 5770 could handle bf3, medium at 1280x720

OK, but your actual mobo? If you can I think your best bet would be to keep current mobo/ram, just add a better cpu, and upgrade gfx card, if you want to stick AMD, Id still look at a 6950 if you can, by all accounts BF3 is very demanding
ive look into that and theres no hope, its really old NFORCE4M-A V1.1 and it doesnt support any of the newer CPUs...

so if i change CPU, i need to change MoBo & RAM, i have around 300 to spend...

and what about going for a H61/H67, i5 2300 and 4gb DDR3 RAM ?= i could save a lot of money, hence making my GPU upgrade not so long after...

but ive have my doubts about the i5 (non-k) will be a good invest, are they any good ? you can save quite a bit of money by going for the 2300 and H61/67 board

PD: what boards are supposed to be Ivy Bridge compatible ? i might get one of those i5 in a few years...
