Hi, i have the Logitech Speaker System Z313 (was sent as replacement for my old one) but it does not have Bass controls on it, so i was wondering if i got a sound card could i control the bass through that ?

Also

If i got a sound card is there anyway i can control voices in movies ? i tend to watch a lot of movies late at night, and am having to constantly turn the volume up and down :S

Thanks.

Your onboard audio should have some EQ presets for bass. A decent sound card will have better control for the EQ settings though. A Xonar DG/DGX would be a good buy.

Not sure about raising the volume level of speech in films. They do that on purpose. Sounds great in cinemas or home theatre systems where volume is not an issue, but for some it's a PitA. AV receivers have options to balance the sound for night time listening, so you don't get quiet speech then a whole load of loud sounds. I'm not sure about software media players though. Some may have this option. I'd be surprised if none did to be honest.

I'd buy new speakers before buying a sound card to improve the 313's, they're really not very good and the SC would be wasted on them.
