eatmuchpie - thanks, but gonna stick with Wine for now as it runs the game well - also have heard its very difficult to ger cedega to work from source
all -:
1) Still no sound. I looked at the audio tab in winecfg and ticked all 3 oprions and driver emulation. Could it be to do with the fact that the game is installed as root? Any other thoughts?
2) How do i uninstall the game? (So i can reinstall it not as root). There is no uninstall prog in the game directory.
3) This - try "killall wineserver wine-preloader" at a terminal and see if the thing disappears - didn't work, it said no wine processess running - maybe its a game process - is there anywhere i can look to find out whats running and then kill it?

PS please hang in with me a bit as when i have this all sorted i need to try and insytall a couple of patches but want to try it first and see how i get on
