Need some help

Hi guys, have just put together a little download box comprising of a Asus M2N-X board with an X2 5000, 2gn corsair ram, 430 antec psu and 160gb hard drive.
The problem is when i turn on everything fires up (cpu fan and case fans spin) but after no more than 2 seconds it all shuts down again, dont even get the beep for video card. Have tried with just the bare essentials installed, cleared cmos, rechecked all connections and tried different ram.
Can anyone help please im pulling my hair out and i have'nt got much left anyway, cheers.

Psu works fine, was powering my 965 before i swapped it over.

double check your psu connectors, I had a similar problem as described and one of the wires in one of my connectors was loose

Have just tried my psu from my main rig and still the same problem.

have u tried with NO hdd's attached? if so that only leaves mobo/cpu

Are the all motherboard stand-offs installed properly, with no excess ones behind the board and screws in each of them?

Have now tried with no HDD attached and all the stand offs have screws in. Still doing the same.
