I don't know if one exists but I'm after something that can do the following (for a reasonable price).

Play Divx/Xvid rips of my DVD collection
Play MP3's
Play normal DVD's
Allow me to connect it up to my PC to put the video files on to it.
Be hard drive based so I get a load of storage without having to revert to DVD media.

I made the fatal mistake of buying a crappy DVD/Divx player with a USB port but it's DIVX playback is not only utter crap it will only read divx files if they're burnt at 1x speed to DVD media, i.e. it won't read anything but pictures/mp3's through the USB port.

My TV only has Scart inputs and the old RF in (whatever you call it)

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Its called a modified XBOX (old) and it works a treat.

I second that! only problem is the lack of power for HD playback, but for everything else a modded XBOX with XBMC is great!

...will anyone mod the 360 (so it can play media not games as i know thats been done)?

At this moment in time you cannot run unsigned code on the 360, having said that someone is bound to point out the King Kong hack so I'll clarify by saying you cannot run unsigned code easily.

Thirded for the modded xbox. Got one earlier this year to go in the bedroom primarily to use a a music player as I have my entire music collection ripped to my PC. But have also used it extensively for playing back vids.

Am really pleased with it cos it works a treat and is so simple to use (even my girlfriend can use it ;o)

Very much considering getting a second one for use in the lounge as it's so much easier than mucking about with the TV out on the computer!!!
