Another vote for HP Microserver running WHS11

Mine runs Plex with all my music/movies on it aswell as my backup data from my Mac Mini and Macbook.

Not sure on transfer speeds, but a 3.4gb movie took around 8mins

Try using a speedtest software with the server something like Blackmagic speedtest (pretty sure this works with networked drives also)

Ethernet, Wifi would be a lot slower

Just tried it again from Mac-Server and did it in around 6 minutes according to my mac. I don't know if thats about average speed but as long as it gets there im happy

I think its down to my router, has an orange light on which indicates 100MBps rather than 1000MBps :rolleyes:

EDIT: not the router, my Mac for ethernet was set on manual at 100 rather than autoselect, DOH lol

Pretty much the same speed here to one drive. Just trying a zfs across a couple out of interest.

I get up to 85MB/sec with FreeNAS on AFP from a Microserver. The protocol appears to the the limiting factor as CIFS/SMB is faster to a Windows box at 110MB/sec.

That's with 4x1TB drives as ZFS.
