Anyone have any recommendations for getting legal plates printed? I know halfords do them for about £35 but since I don't need them for another month or two, may as well just order them online.

Depends if he is thinking of driving abroad into Europe. If you display the Euro symbol and Great Britain (GB) national identifier on your number plate, then you won’t need a separate GB sticker when travelling within the European Union.

If you have plain number plates with no identifiers, or any flag other than the Euro symbol, then you will need a separate GB sticker.

Yep, thought it was obvious but should have mentioned it that I'm driving through Europe. Wanted to avoid any stick on stuff even though I've noticed I'll need a sticker to drive on the motorways in Switzerland, yay.

The Switzerland motorway sticker goes in your windscreen and mine was a pain to get off cleanly.

When I needed a vignette to drive to Slovakia and back I had heard the same. I put a square of clear vinyl on my windscreen before setting off from the UK, and simply peeled off the vinyl when I got back. No fuss, no mess!
