Need some new PC speakers, no idea where to start though...

I've finally got myself some £££ and im thinking about getting some new speakers but have no idea where to start so im hoping that you lot can help me out

I like the look of some of the M-AUDIO Studiophile range (i've seen a few pictures in the "your desk right now thread") but other than that i have no idea.

- I have a budget of around £100 although i can possibly push to £150.
- im after a 2.1 or a 5.1 set up with a decent sub preferably 5.1
- being honest i would rather go second hand because that way i can get
more or less seen as I don't have the biggest of budgets. But if you guys
say i dont need to then fair enough.

If it's of any help i listen to a wide variety of music to bass heavy dub step to death metal and the speakers would also be used for gaming and watching films etc. (general use) so obviously i want speakers that will be up to playing everything in good quality.

I think thats everything.

thanks for the reply, ok i'll stay away from 5.1. im not too fused about speakers for gaming because all my gaming is done with my headphones.

I forgot about those acoustic energy speakers, i looked at them about half a year ago! the seemed very decent and with a very good build quality. would you say the Klispch Pro Medias are better?

i would prefer to go second hand and get soemthing better, the only thing is i dont really know what to look for

So 3 different 2.1 sets have been named so far, being:
Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1
Klipsch ProMedia 2.1
Bose Companion 3

So which out of the above would you say is the best for what i need? bearing in mind i do pretty much all my gaming with my headphones

*edit* does anyone know that forum where quite a few people get directed to for any sort of speaker advise? i've seen people suggest it quite a few times on here

had a quick look at the 603's but im not after floor standing speakers because my desk would get in the way of a lot of the sound. So im looking for bookshelf speakers that i will maybe get stands for or wall mount

GOD ******* DAM IT!
i was watching a pair of 601 S2's on the bay and completely forgot about them, there was no reserve and no one bid on them......i could have got them for £1

anyone know much about the Jamo A102HCS5 BLACK, i have found somewhere selling them for £149.99, thats a good savign of about £80
