I have noticed rave reviews from OC forum members on the Logitec Harmony remotes and I have been doing a bit of research as I would like to get one.

I have the following kit to control.

LG 55inch Smart TV
Onkyo Amp
Sky HD box
Sony BlueRay Player
XBOX 360 (not too fussed about this as hardly gets used)

A couple of questions if you would be so kind to help me out with.

Which Harmony should I get ?
What is the point of the hub ?
Do I actually need the Hub ?

I am tempted to get the Ultimate with everything, but it would be a waste if I don't need the hub and other bits.

Edit : Doing some more reading, it seems the hub allows you to use your smart phone as a remote which I am not interested in. Does it give other features I would need ?

Many thanks

The hub is required for control of some devices. It also allows you to have the remote in one room and controls sent out in another (AV cupboard etc).

My hub is under my sofa. It's never seen but it will blast IR out all over the living room. The remote is more directional and will occasionally need to be done twice to make sure it's received.

I think you also need the hub if you want to control devices that use bluetooth, i.e. the fire tv remote and possibly the xbox.

Thanks all, just pulled the trigger on the Harmony One (new type) without the hub.
All my kit sits directly in from of me with IR's in clear view, the xbox I can live without as it isn't even plugged in yet due to not being used.

If I need a hub, can get one at a later date on the flea market as loads for sale there.

Thanks again.
