Hey guys,

been with my employer now for approx 4 months 3 months on a temp/perm basis via an agency which was all good and switched over to perm employment supposedly as of the 4th of this month,

Now the problem is i've been told i wont get paid at the end of this month(last wage was last month) as i haven't signed my contract. BUT work have never gave me a contract to sign i've been badgering them for the last couple of weeks and all i get is we'll chase it up for you.

anyone suggest a course of action other than finding another Job.? is there any legal grounds to demand wages in a certain timeframe?

tell em you have been asking for a contract for weeks, and you dont see why you should suffer for someone else's incompetence.

signing a contract is irrelevent- you have done the work...they owe you.

there is NO reason why they cant pay you- its just payroll being lazy...its just a bank transfer, and is easy to do...

if they cant sort it, then tell em you are leaving because you dont want to work for such a useless employer.

things like this are usually symptomatic of a company that has crappy morale, and useless management.

no contract = no notice period, so just get back to temping....job done.

I agree with The_TailGunner, that's just management at its most useless. I remember asking my former employer several times for my P45. Months later I still hadn't received it and when I went in I was told matter-of-factly by the fattest, most grotesque, incompetent female manager (sorry for mentioning female, but they're the ones who are most likely to get on their high-horse with madey-uppy policies) that they had nothing to do with my P45 and I should phone head office  You know, despite me having absolutely no dealings with head office before, and she was just too big and fat and stupid and lazy to have informed head office I was no longer working for them.

If I were you I'd write a letter to the HR department and CC it to payroll, basically explaining you demand any money you are owed on a timely basis.

I worked for years without a formal contract.

You have worked , they must pay you.

A verbal contract is good enough, you don't really need a written one. It's good to have one though so you can refer to it if necessary.
The above is spot on. Plus the verbal agreement/contract has been confirmed by the fact you're doing the job should be more than sufficient.

Try having a look around www.acas.org.uk and see if they have something that might help.

" Does an employment contract need to be in writing?

Most employment contracts need not be in writing to be legally valid; a verbal agreement can be sufficient. However, writing down the terms of the contract can minimise later disagreements. The Employment Rights Act 1996 requires employers to provide most employees, within two calendar months of starting work, with a written statement of the main terms of the contract. "

Don't worry, you will get paid. :)

Hope this helps
