Hello,
I was writing a couple of weeks ago about SSD upgrading, and so I've done all the upgrades. All in all it is working BUT there is an issue with the old hard drive.

I was told that when installing new OS onto the SSD I should unplug the HDD with the old 32 bit OS. I did as I was told and it installed fine, but now when I've plugged in the old drive, it automatically loads to the old os. I went into bios to change the boot order and didn't find my new installed SSD, there were only 3 option available : floppy(which I don't have), old HDD and CD/DVD rom...

I went another way, unplugged old drive booted into my new SSD when it logged on I plugged my old HDD so that I could wipe it, and it didn't even recognise it... literally, there was no change.

So, what can I do at this point? I just want to format my old drive so that my PC would always boot into SSD.

I was thinking to re-install the OS with both of them plugged in. But not sure, hence why I'm asking.

I can't be bothered to type it out so here's a link :)

Scroll down to 'Set the Jumpers' I suspect it could be that. Worth a look.

Edit: Nevermind on second look I think that only applies to IDE HDDs. Unless it is a IDE drive of course...

IDE SSDs don't exist as far as I know, IDE was abandoned years ago, before the introduction of SSDs.

Have you tried loading the windows 7 disk and repairing the installer? It may repair the bootloader.

I'm unsure with your BIOS however, tried different SATA ports?

If you've noticed that then it would be safe to assume you moved the jumper from master to slave.

I'm not the OP :o

Unless I misread his post the problem he is having is the HDD taking over boot priority when it is plugged in with his SSD (yet his SSD boots OK when his HDD is unplugged).

Hence my suggestion regarding IDE HDD jumpers. ;)

Is it possibly something to do with enabling (or disabling) AHCI in the BIOS?

lol!! Thank you!! But I've figured it out... I think... I've re-booted the system again and it booted back to the new os and found the old hdd... I think I've managed to format it and get rid of the old OS

Thank you! Sorry about that ^_^
