Hi all. I must confess in my increasing years I have lost touch with all these fancy gadgets :D

I am looking a recommendation for a tablet for my nine year olds. One of them is autistic but loves computers ps3 etc. As they are twins I need two.

Any one point me in the right direction to get them started. Nothing too fancy but it would be great if you could watch films from a usb stick or a bit of supervised surfing.

Thanks

Oh well I suppose it was worth a try:(

I can give you my experience.
I bought tablets for my girls for Christmas 2012. Went for some imported Chinese devices. Build quality was crap and within days they were knackered. Got a full refund and invested in 2 second hand Kindle Fire HD 7" devices. They have been brilliant. I got them for about £100 each back then and they have been in pretty much constant use since.

Yes, you are restricted by Amazon's modified android OS but the kids don't care. Their are enough games available for them to keep them happy. The interface is simple and easy to use and whilst they don't have SD slots you can get a cable to attach additional media. 16gb seems to be ok for my two. The eldest uses it mostly for Youtube. Youngest is always on Netflix or Iplayer.

Build quality is very good and I haven't had to do a thing to them other than "sideload" the odd app that isnt available on Amazon.

The market is now mobbed with devices. My FIL has a Tesco Hudl and it seems fine but has a lot of bloatware on it. Older kids might appreciate the ability to customize the Hudl as it runs full Android os and therefore has Play Store access.

The option at £100 are plentiful now but I really do think the Amazon devices offer great value.
