Was out shopping today and saw a nice Harman Kardon amp (AVR 445) and just really liked the look of it - I'm not sure the performance is as good as similar priced products but I just hate the 'classic' design of normal amps - if you know what I mean?
Anyway here's a pic of the amp I like and was wondering what others are slightly different in design but are still worthy of a decent set up :)

I've decided to go for the 5.1 SVSound soon after Xmas and so looking for an amp to run that set up.
Just seen the above amp but 745 7.2 amp with 100watts per channel for a bargain price!
Anyone had these or know much about them? From what I've heard Harman Kardon are pretty solid.

Thanks Grimley :) I thought there was a new model out but could get a bargain price on the older version (First came out at $3.5k could have got it for $580! new!). However, decided to be patient and look around some more. Just really like the look of them and I know Harman Kardon has a good name.

HK stuff is generally regarded as quality kit. They tend to spec 'real' numbers, so although as first glance they might not seem as good as other comparable amps.

I have an old HK AVI 100 prologic amp. Very heavy. The preamp section sucks , but the power amp in it sound real nice when fed a preout from a homemade tube amp.

I know exactly what you mean, I can't stand the sight of my Pioneer!!

I have to say though I'm not keen on that HK either. I can't quite put my finger on it but I think it's the silver 'and' black thing.

Still it's all about personal preference and it sounds like a bargain. I reckon you'll be well chuffed with one of those. Have you had a look around to see if others are running an HK with the SVS set?

The pic does not do it justice - I just like that its digital and seems more 'designed' than the typical Yamaha, Pioneer etc.
Not looked into what people are typically running with the SVS setups but that's a great idea - although I fear for my wallet :p

*Edit:
Even though the reasonably priced Pioneer does a splendid job, the SVS set has the qualities necessary to justify an investment in more expensive electronics. The jump from the VSX 2116 to the Harman Kardon AVR445 at twice the price proved that the SVS set deserves the best electronics that you can afford.

Sounds good :) ^ That's from some review.
