Need to get the PSU to STFU

However I want to maximise as much airflow as possibly, so Ideally I want a PSU that is modular, and none of these here are modular (disconnectable cables)
You'll have to spend more then. General 'law' round here is don't skimp on PSU i.e. buy right & should last you several years & or upgrades & or new builds. Remember you investing in what powers your £xxx system.

Recommend the Enermax Modu 82+ 425W (here). I can vouch for their silence & reliability :)

Just add some extra weight here, never skimp on the PSU, it touches everything in your machine and by association can royally fubar everything it touches (including you). If needed, spend an extra £10-20 and get one of the ones recommended and go for modular, whilst you might not notice initially, that extra spend will pay you back many times over in the coming years.

Just to add.

If you want silence from a PSU.
Get a PSU that is over rated for your system, that way when the system is put under load the PSU can easily handle it, there for not getting to warm and spinning the fan up to high rpm`s to cool itself.

If your qtec is making more noise than usual it's probably about to die. Stop using it! :) Seasonic S12 (not M12), Corsair (made by Seasonic) and Enermax are recommended as quiet PSUs.

Suprised it took till then for somebody to say "Stop using it" now. A PSU making a lot of noise isn't good. A Q-Tec making a lot of noise is a death trap. :p

Well to be honest, it's not making any dangerous groaning noises that indicate that it might be unsafe.

it's running fine, and has been running at this level for years, it's just I've just noticed it, and slightly worried because it might be bad for my hearing, and mental health being exposed to this noise all the time.
