I wouldn't get too excited, NOD let through about 25% of the zero day malware I tested it on.
Have you tested again recently? I am curious because you said you didn't bother with NOD32 in your testing of Kaspersky and others!

I also said I didn't bother because I'd recently tested it and it had let malware through.
To be fair it wasn't that bad, but Avira Free Edition did better, and is... well... free.I am just a bit surprised really as every computer I have come across with Avira on, it was a joke.
Have you got any details about the specific malware NOD32 let through? My company is an Eset partner as we consider them to be the best. However, if a free product is doing better in tests, then there is a problem!

Not off-hand, no. But I did submit all missed samples to Eset at the time. Don't forget Avira isn't a "free" product as such; the Free Edition has the same engine as their paid-for Premium and Security suites, just minus the web shield.
