Behind you... Naked!
Im looking for a simple set of speakers, or a simple as possible mixer that has both an OPTICAL INPUT and normal ANALOG.

I have an Atari Falcon with an FDI, that gives me Optical Audio for my samples and D2D recording / Playback, and I have my Midi Gear going through the Mixer.

Now, this then gives me a Digital ( normal and Optical ) and a normal Analog output.

The thing is, that at this time, I only have machines that do one or the other, but not both.

Ideally I would like a Mixer that can allow me to have both...

Now, I can take the FDI off, and use the Ataris Own output, however, thats limited to only 33K Sample rate, which is great and works a treat, dont get me wrong, but my collection of D2D etc is all at 48K or 96K

So, does anyone know of anything?

Mixers with optical input are usually pretty pricey, and not many could be described as "simple". There are a few options with spdif coaxial inputs tho. You could either go for something like a Behringer DDX3216 or something like a Numark PPD9000. Both can be had for under a monkey. If you only have optical out, a converter can be bought quite cheaply.

Tell me about it...

Im thinking that I will simply have to use an adapter to convert the Optical to analog... That would be the cheapest option of course.

ACtually... The Digital I/O are both Optical and RCA, so an RCA to LINE-LEVEL Audio adapter is the cheapest option surely.

Thanks for the head up on those Mixers.. I will have a peek at them to see whether they can do anythign for me.

EDIT

WAAAAHHH!!!

Waaayyyy too pricey for my needs... I would actually be better off, just converting my D2D down to 33K ( Bloody odd that - whats wrong with 32? )

Anyway... I will keep my eyes out for a Digital to Analog adapter instead, and just use a bigger norma Mixer.
Its not like I actually need a mixer either... I use the Computer to control any mixing that is needed and I really only need to have multiple sources stuffed into just a standard Left/Right job.

If you're lookin for a decent, affordable DAC then I would reccommend a M-Audio Flying Calf. They're discontinued, but if you look hard, you might find one still.

Sorry for the delay.

I have actually found a great compromise that has been in my face all the time.

Im using the LiveDrive from an old SBLive with an old SB Audigy. directly into a PC.

This has also allowed me to record my music to WAV and then onto CD, or MP3.

Ok, so its not what I had hoped, but its doing a great job.

Thanks for the replies.
