need to reformat the PC but got COD4 installed

Im level 47 or so and i need to reload my PC with Vista HP 64bit.
How do I backup my profile so i dont lose anything?

Not sure where they are saved, look in "My documents" they might be in there.

I would just burn all the install files to a DVD, I thought just saving my MP files would work, but it didn't

Isn't your mp score saved remotely on their servers anyway, it is saved as a profile

No it's saved on your pc.

Don't you just need to back up your profile folder?

No I tried that when I formatted the other day, my profile appeared on screen but I had been put back to rank 1

Just backup the 'Players' folder within COD4 folder. Tried and tested

I did this but my rank was still restored to 1

Something must've gone wrong then, I've use the method all the time to move my profile between my desktop & laptop, and when reinstalling.

This happened to me. I backed up my files and replaced them ater the format, but punkbuster somehow picked it up and it reset me to level 1. Luckily I was only on 30 or so, but still annoying. I guess they've detected a backed up profile to stop people walking in on level 55.

Why can't they store this remotely? It can't be too hard to have a file on some remote server that just keeps values on your level and all the things you have unlocked? If BF2 can do it, why can't they?

I've always just backed up the profiles folder. Have gone between 3 different installs, over different O/S's without an issue.
