Need to replace ATI 7850

I would personally get a 270/270x. The 660 would be a side-grade, not an upgrade. Have you looked for another 7850 or 7950 on a popular auction site?

The 270 is hardly an upgrade either. The 270x is a tweaked 7870 and the 270 is a tweaked 7850. Probably wouldn't notice much improvement if any.

If I was upgrading from a 7850, a 270X would be the minimum I'd want to consider (if staying with AMD). One of those is roughly equivalent to a stock 7950, so that would be a reasonable upgrade in my opinion. However, you'll do well to find one for £120.

You may well be better off trying something second hand instead.

It might be worth mentioning that I'm not necessarily looking for an upgrade. I was happy with the level of performance of the 7850. Would a 270 offer me similar performance?

It's only worth getting if you're going to overclock tbh, a 7850 can overclock to the same speed as a stock 7870 without much difficulty.

Both 270 and 270X has 1280 shaders, the difference is the clock speed and 1x vs 2x 6 PCIe pin.

Overclocked 7850 is roughly on par with 270 but you can overclock that too, so it pulls a bit ahead.

270 is your best bet, anything else in that price range is a bit weaker.
