Need to Replace SATA 2 Hard Drive

I need to replace my dead sata 2 hard drive for my media centre. The motherboard only supports sata 2 (GA-73PVM-S2H).

Should I get a sata 2 hard drive or sata 3 which should be backwards compatible?

For a mechanical drive it doesn't matter. They aren't fast enough to need SATA3, but it doesn't hurt anything.

I have seagate st2001dm001 on my sata 2 mainboard and performance is no lower than benchmarks on sata 3 mainboards. I get 222 mb/s peak speed at hd tune benchmarks.

get the cheapest largest you can with the best warranty, not a lot else matter tbh
