Need To RMA Another Set Of Ram, XMS3

While it doesn't bode well for the imc that it wouldn't run a stick at 1800, the idea was more that it running would suggest the imc is alright and not running would tell us nothing.

If the imc is flaky 1.7V may push it over the edge. The ram itself is unlikely to care.

I think you're at the point of persuading someone else to put your processor in their board and clock it, or borrowing known good ram and hoping it doesn't die in your care. Otherwise I think you're waiting on the patriot rma, and considering one with corsair. That two sticks pass memtest and the other doesn't is sufficient justification for starting a ram rma process.

A final thought, you could use one of the sticks you know is good, or both of them, and overclock as hard as you like using them. I'm not sure what it would prove if it sits happy at 4.2 using them, but it'll keep you entertained while you wait for the patriot. Crap position to be in, I feel bad for you man :(

heres a quote from somewhere, gotta be worth a try

You will need to go into the BIOS and set the memory timings to 2t-8-8-8-24 and the memory voltage to 1.65V. It's also a good idea to set tRFC manually to 88 and the QPI voltage to 1.35

Tell me about it!!. I'll wait on the outcome of the Patriot Memory before deciding what to do

Funny thing is in the 2 weeks ive had the Corsair memory in my PC i havent had any crashes what so ever, the only slight problem ive had is sometimes, probably 1 in 4 times, when i shut down my pc at night, windows 7 will just sitting at the 'Now Shutting Down' screen for over about 5 minutes and then will Blue Screen on me and restart the whole system, im guessing this is releated to the memory, not sure it what way though??

Other than that ive had no problems, in fact i had more problems with my system randomly restarting with the Patriot Memory, yet with the Patriot memory i never got any errors in memtest. What i might do if the Patriot comes back with a fault and i get a refund, ill buy another set of Corsair memory, and that way ill have 5 possible 'working' sticks, i should defo be able to manage to get 3 working sicks out of that lot and then RAM the remain 2 sticks alone with the 1 faulty 1 i currently have

Like the others said earlier, they are a kit so you would probably have to RMA the sticks together.

Im running XMS3 and haven't had any problems at all currently have it running at 1528mhz @ 8-8-8-20 1T 1.6V

Ok, i got an email form OC this morning, giving me a full refund for the Patriot Viper memory, so they must have indeed been faulty, which is fairly good news as maybe my imc on the cpu is fine, now to order another set of memory before RMA these Corsair XMS3's, do i stick with Corsair or go with the OCZ Gold!!?

Got my new set of Corsair XMS3 yesterday, tested all sticks individually, for 6 passes on memtest without any errors, now just done 20 passes on LinX with no errors. So looking good

I hope this set works for you lettuce. My Corsair XMS3 set has been working fine since I got it. And I finally got the RMA on my Patriot RAM. Just waiting for the refund. I think we did get a dodgy set of that for sure.

I really hope it works out. You have been through a lot with this whole RAM issue. Hope you can enjoy your i7 soon =)

If this doesn't work, I fear you may have an IMC problem like Jon has suggested.

Good luck

Well good news, had my OC setup for a week now, passed Prime for 10 hours, and LinX 20 passes with max memory, had no lockups or blue screens. Even managed to get the voltages lower Vcore 1.2750, QPI 1.2750. So looks like it was memory related after all, im glad to put this all behind me now
