So I've been asked by a family friend to help upgrade an old house PC. It has an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ @ 2GHz and about 512 MB of DDR RAM which I'm knocking up to 2GB.I was wondering if there are any currently available low priced GPU's available to upgrade from the current on board graphics. I am not very knowledgeable with old spec PC's and would be glad for some help. If it helps the PC is a MESH matrix (model number unknown).

This is the motherboard: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/ECS-RS482-M-Motherboard-Review/358

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Youll also need to find out the size of the case and the wattage of the PSU. It will be difficult to know what is compatible otherwise?

General use and maybe some gaming from time to time. I know it will never be to the crysis standard. But I'm hopeing it will be able to run games like oblivion and hl2 ok.

yeah thats pretty weeny! You will struggle to find a GPU for that. Maybe an old GT 430, they have very low power consumption

I'm sure even if the powersupply is 250w and pretty old, it will power any graphics card without a power connector fine.
