Need to withdraw 3k from the bank. Can i get it in one go?

No, might cause a security check and they'll need to ring up for auth and you will be asked some ID questions, otherwise not a problem :)

i got 2750 out once, went in armed with loads of ID but all i had to do was enter my pin. This was at the NatWest about a year ago.

Barclays will allow you to withdraw 3k no issues if you have your chip and pin card with you. They didn't ask for any ID when I withdrew.

Out of courtesy I'd consider ringing the branch you intend to take the money out from first so that they are a) aware you will be coming and b) have the money ready but no, it shouldn't prove to be any problem.

This is good etiquette.

Take a metal briefcase for the lulz and give that to the builder.

This is of course assuming the branch publishes a direct number, an awful lot of them don't any more.

I took out a similar amount from Barclays last year, just turned up and presented my cashpoint card at the counter and they gave me the cash. I didn't even need to enter a PIN anywhere or present any ID. It really shouldn't be a problem.

And hope the cashier doesn't have a chavy mate ready get you on your way out? :p

I made the mistake of going into the bank to get £2500 out without phoning first, after being refused by the cashier I spoke to the helpful branch manager who was more than happy to hand over the wonga. Just give them a call before hand and you'll should be fine! :)

Wouldn't it be more sensible to ask the bank?

And ask for a discount if the builder's not putting it through the books.
