Need upgrade for 1440p 144hz?

Hi Guys,

I am currently playing the usual mix of AAA shooters, driving games and fifa/FM etc... At 1080p on the following setup.
GA-AB350 Gaming 3
Ryzen 5 1600
Dark T-Force 16gb @3200
MSI Rx5700 gaming X

I'm looking to upgrade to the AOC 27" 1440p 144hz monitor, but I'm worried my hardware won't cut it.
Advice please

Your not going to max out your frames at 1440p if that's what you want.
You will need a 3070 or better to do that, But if your happy with 60fps gaming at 1440p then you will be fine.
The rest of your hardware is fine, thats less important at higher res.

Grab a monitor first and see what fps you get , the higher the resolution the less cpu bound. Your probsblly going to need a 3070 to get that fps you want at 144hz.

You mite be able to get a performance boost by flashing the bios on your gpu to a 5700xt but rember it comes with risks

Thanks guys.
I watched a ton of benchmark videos and it seems the gpu is up to the 1440 task.
I'll get better image quality and a few more inches for my gaming pleasure (sounds wrong).
Pity I can't find the AOC in stock anywhere :rolleyes:

Finally found some stock in OCUK's sister company.
Ordered the LG 27GL850.
