Need Watercooling Build

I think I may have to hunt you down and murder you in horrific fashion for putting spectre pro's on a high fpi rad :p :D

If you're going to use less rad than is recommended, you really don't want to skimp on fan performance. Scythe GT's/SP120's or nothing IMO :)

Spectre's look nice, but they're fairly loud and don't really push much air - especially through dense rads, push/pull or not.

Lol I don't know all that much about fans other then the RPM and looks :D. Hence the reason I said the Spectre pros lol.

(What Does FPI mean).

Are these what you are talking about? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-030-SY

What about other ones as there are higher RPM Sythers or are are these the best ?

Cheers for the help.

No worries, I bought three of them before I learned the hard way :D

FPI = Fins Per Inch.
The more fins per inch, the more dense the rad, the harder it is for air to pass through.
Higher FPI means that the rad has more surface area, which means more cooling potential than a rad that has lower FPI.

Example:
Radiator A is 360mm and 60mm thick and has an FPI of 10.
Radiator B is 360mm and 30mm thick and has an FPI of 20.

Despite being twice as thick, radiator A is still only equal to radiator B in terms of cooling potential.
The advantage that radiator A has, is that since it has a lower fin density (less air restriction), it can get away with lower fan speeds, and therefore less noise.

Those GT's that you linked are about as good as it gets :) Corsair SP120's are a close second.

Hang on, lemme get some more info on the rads you're looking at...

Ok, it seems that that SR1 is only 9FPI. That's fairly low.
FWIW, I use 80mm thick Monsta rads which are 10FPI and I wouldn't trust my 360 to cool all your components properly :)

How much clearance do you have at the top of your case?

I was also looking at the Black Ice GT Xtreme 360 which is higher FPI I think.

Im not sure on the clearence but I can fit the 3 fan rad with 3 on top and bottom (6 total).

There also fits 2 200mm fan right above that also.

I could get another rad for the cpu which will be a 200 fan size rad if that would be better...

just means I would have to find somewhere to mount my 2 HDD and SDD

Would it work this setup.

Res > 3 fan rad > cpu > 200mm rad > gpu 1 > gpu 2 > res

Or would 2 seperate loops be better.

Not to take anything away from what Dominik says, but I don't think dual loop is necessary.
Most people seem to get by just fine with a single loop covering cpu + 2 gpu's, providing they have sufficient rad space.

Loop order shouldn't matter as fluid temps will equalize anyway.

It seems you can fit rads up to 55mm or so thick (plus one set of fans) in there. Is there space to place fans in the cavity above?
If so, I'd put a 180-200mm rad in the front (push or pull) and a Black Ice GT Extreme (20FPI) in push/pull up top.

There is space to fit fans in the cavity above, But this is what I said I was going to do with

3 fan rad with 3 on top and bottom (6 total).

There also fits 2 200mm fan right above that also.

Then go;
Res > 3 fan rad > cpu > gpu 1 > gpu 2 > res

Also what 140mm, 200mm and 230mm fans would you recommend?

Glad I found this thread. I'm just about to watercool a fairly similar setup:

Haf X case
2500k
2 x gtx580

My first decision is one or two loops, which will determine whether I need to buy a bigger case... How many loops are you planning?

after spending a few hours reading up, i decided to go with one loop.

it seems to be more beneficial (at least in our proposed setup) to run one loop, and if necessary use two radiators (360 and 120/240) on the single loop, as opposed to running two separate loops.

there is less wastage of cooling capability, and obviously negates an extra pump and res...

thanks. i've just been reading about a haf x setup with a 360 rad up top and a 240 rad down bottom. now i know it's possible, albeit with taking the bottom rack out, that's what i'm gonna do...

I'm not sure yet, but after some research you wouldn't need a bigger case as you can fit a 3 fan rad at the top if you lose your CD Tray.

I'm going for a 240 down at the bottom too.

Up top, I'm going for either a rx360 (58mm thick) or an ax360 (which is 40mm), depending on whether or not the rx360 will fit with push/pull. I need to have a measure up for my motherboard components when I get home...

My parts came yesterday. I decided to upgrade the gfx cards so bought a couple of 4gb gtx770s and two full cover blocks. I'm running 3x1440 hazros, so I wasn't making the same mistake twice regarding gfx card ram amounts!

I'm waiting on my gpu bridge to arrive, then I will start building.

I was a bit unsure about the type of tubing and coolant to get and whether I needed a kill-coil? I got some mayhem pastel coolant and masterkleer tubing. Supposedly the coolant contains additives that mean I don't need the kill-coil, but I wasn't sure...
