Neff Ovens

All of these I've never even considered an issue.

Unless you've got midget arms why would you need to stand so close to put something in the oven?

And "Bounce back into your hands" the door falls to the floor and stays there until you close it?

I've never been putting something into the oven thinking "God I wish this door wasn't here, I can't climb into the oven with the turkey now"

Yet plenty of other people disagree, hence why there's the option to have it or not.

Because you don't want to strain your back, or because you're my mother-in-law who has bad hands, or because you just want to the do the job more easily, or because you are a midget with midget arms? There's lots of reasons someone might want things that you've never even considered.

Please try reading - it's not that difficult - look I'll help you. Not all oven doors open downwards.
or that you've not got a hot side door trying to bounce back into your hands

But you've never had or used a slideaway door either, eh? I'm surprised you're even on the internet when paper and a quill is perfectly adequate. Those carrier pigeons won't write their own messages you know.

Yes but how could you stand right up against the oven to put something in it? You need to stand far enough back for the door to open in order to have enough room to bend into it?

If you stand flat up against the oven you'll just be bending over to the hob.

Most do, mind you I prefer a side open door.

A biro is superior to a quill because it serves some purpose which makes life easier. A slideaway door looks very nice but it doesn't actually perform any useful function.

I have a waist high oven with a slideaway door, and above it a combi. You can stand much closer to the oven when (for instance) turning a roast or a turkey, so you're not trying to hold the weight a couple of feet out from your body ie you have much more control over what you are doing.

No need, when the door can disappear out of the way altogether.

If you'd used one in real life, you'd experience the extra convenience and the fact that it does indeed perform a useful function. Just like a lot of things, it's not necessary, but it does actually make life easier.

You're talking from a position of ignorance if you haven't actually done some cooking with one, especially if you're someone like my MIL who still loves to cook, but doesn't have the strength in her hands and back that she used to.
