The new architecture features an integrated memory controller and a similar setup to AMD's Hypertransport. As a result there isn't a chance of such chips turning up on LGA775. You'll have to buy a new LGA1366 motherboard. At the end of this year, we'll see the X58 chipset and presumably the cheaper upper mainstream and mainstream chipsets later next year.
Clock for Clock it should be faster, but it will still be the same feature wise. I don't think there will be any radical new features on X58 compared to X38/48.
I also can't really see Intel bringing out another skt775 chipset either.
