Neighbor alarm help

4 days?! You must live in a realy apathetic area... we had the police around after 6 hours when a neighbour of ours alarm went off while they were on holiday...

Should move near me.

I have my BB gun locked and loaded and my head peering out the window within 0.2 seconds of any alarm going off within my auditory range.

Intruder alarms are not allowed to ring for any longer than 15 minutes under current regs. 20 minutes under old BS regs. With 3 re-arms.
Phone the council or local police. They should have a local intruder alarm company and locksmith that can disable the intruder alarm and make the premises secure again.

Edit: ohh and obviously the owner gets charged for this privilege!

I think there are few things considered more annoying. As has been said though, the alarm is basically pointless.

I worked for a tiler for about a month during my gap year. We tried to disconnect the electricity for some reason, and it turned out that this set off the alarm. It was a really nice, wealthy area, and the alarm rang for about 3 hours without anyone batting an eyelid. Pretty useless.

Burglar alarms are pretty useless really. Everyone's instant reaction to one going off is "Oh FFS shut up!!" and not "I better go round there and check they aren't being burgled".

Break in and steal all their stuff.

/alarm who cried wolf etc.

;)

The only real way for an alarm system to work like this is if the world was filled with DNA scanners, every single person catalogued and done so against their properties.

Ironically the alarms alert criminals to the fact that a) no one is in in the property, and b) no one cares.

That's actually a very good point.

Furthermore isn't the box on the front of your house the deterrent? I'd say you're probably just as likely to not be burgled with just an empty box attached to your house than with a functioning alarm. That way you don't annoy the hell out of all your neighbours either.

Well about an hour after I posted this thread it stopped... Haven't heard it since. But I bet when I go to sleep tonight it's going to go off again.

The idea is to make 99% of the scrotes walk straight past and dummy boxes/cameras will do that but then there are the professionals who won't let real ones put them off.

I stayed at a mate's flat a few years ago and all through the night this stupid alarm across the street kept going off, went round a few weeks later was still doing it, although it seemed it was just after extremely cold spells, so we assumed that it was water ingress causing it.

Don't know if he ever got it sorted but he doesn't live there any more

Maybe granny Davis was checking in on the house for them, she set the alarm on her way out, tripped fell and now cant get up or call for help. Her only option is to wave her arms to trigger the motion sensor on the primed alarm.

She lays there on the cold tiles mustering the strength to wave her arms every few hours to alert someone but no-one cares in the modern society. It could be a burglary, it could be a faulty alarm or it could just be poor granny Davis waving her life away!

I cried a real tear!
