neighbour noise

Stay late at work to get some study time in?
By the time you've had a confrontation about it and failed the exam the renovations work will probably be completed, and you'll just be angry and without the qualification.

I don't have a laptop to study for this exam, my books etc too much to take to a library. They want to make a large basement.

They are developers I swear if I don't pass the exam once they start to show people around I am going to play loud music and sit outside with a can of beer and a tracksuit.

I usually just call the police and say there is a massive fight going on next door, usually gives me a few hours peace.

Otherwise try getting some seriously good ear buds.

Me personally, I've had enough and have decided to emigrate to a country where detached houses are affordable.

I'd honestly say you're only option is to find a solution yourself as opposed to trying to get the neighbours to stop. Construction takes time and money so you can't exactly drop tools on a whim. If it happened to during antisocial hours you'd have a right to be peeved, but if it's during normal working/daylight hours, there's not much you can do.

Trying to take it out of the developers after is also a little bit pety, in my opinion.

What if it was the National Grid putting new cabling in the roads or Openreach putting in new cables, you can't place the blame on this onto someone else.

Bats

Find some bats and move them into next door's building works. Then report to authorities that they are disturbing them. The whole process will have to stop whilst they wait for them to move on.

Headphones / ear plugs

won't really help with the vibrations though. as already said OP the only real option is to find yourself somewhere else to study while the work is going on. there is almost no chance, no matter how understanding your neighbours are, that they will put the building work on hold while you complete your studies. It would just be too expensive for them - the builders would still be needing paid even if they are on hold.

it sucks yea, but that is the reality of it.

Hope no one in your family are ever badly affecting because the police couldn't get there in time dealing with fights that never were...
