won't really help with the vibrations though. as already said OP the only real option is to find yourself somewhere else to study while the work is going on. there is almost no chance, no matter how understanding your neighbours are, that they will put the building work on hold while you complete your studies. It would just be too expensive for them - the builders would still be needing paid even if they are on hold.

it sucks yea, but that is the reality of it.

I know it's rubbish not being able to use the property you are paying for but just be glad that this is only a temporary thing.
