Nero 7.9.6.0 *22nd May*

I cudnt acctually connect to the one off Nero site so just downloaded the torrent Trial version only. Works a treat.

Is this a Free Upgrade if you already have Nero 7.x like when Nero 6.6.x was up-reved it was free to upgrade!?!?!... :)
 
Does anyone else hanker after the days when Nero was actually just a no-frills burner instead of the "jack of all trades, master of none" bloated POS it is nowadays?

I've got a version of Nero 6 installed on my Linux box and its like Ronseal - just does exactly what it says on the tin. If I wanted something to burn CD covers I'd get it seperately, the last time I tried to install Nero you couldn't disable most of the crap, or if you did it still resulted in a bloated install with totally unnecessary services, update programs, etc running.

1 of the reasons I still haven't upgraded form the last version. That and it works perfectly well so don't seem the point.
 
All I install is burning rom, vision and wav editor since adobe audition no longer works in vista, I don't want the other crap lol

Same here, I only install burning rom and the drive diagnostic tools, express is useful for authoring dvds though. Nicer gui than convertx2dvd or svcd2dvd.
 
also don;t forget to use my tweak here, stumbled across it during my registry stroll one day. man there is a load of stuff in the registry that is interesting to say the least :eek: :cool: :

Tweak to increase buffer memory

Go to Registry and edit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ahead\Nero-Burning Rom\Recorder\

"WriteBufferSize" value set to no more than 698000000

that will give you around 660mb of ram buffer. don;t go over the above figure, iv had up to 667mb working properly but beyond that it throws an error about not being able to allocate enough memory to the write process although the write will continue but with around 270mb ram buffer used.

you guys should know what is good about this tweak. if you don;t know then its not for you. :p


ps iv tested this on both xp 32bit and 64bit and on vista 32bit and 64bit. tweek has been working for me fine since the days of nero 6.
