Hi, I've just moved into a new build property that has a wired doorbell that is a transformer and chime all in one box, it's a BG MDC1
I'm having a problem wiring the hello doorbell, I've followed the instructions exactly but get a buzzing noise when connecting the chime connector and no power to the door bell itself?

Any advice is appreciated thank you

If your not an electrician then you'll struggle. The existing chime transformer might not be suitable for ALL TYPES of existing home chime boxes. You might be able to find some youtube guidance but I generally seek professional help especially tradesman who specialise in the smart sector. Alternatively you can just use the existing battery for the Hello and pair it up to a google speaker and the door bell rings, the google speaker lets you know. Good luck!

From memory I don't think most traditional chimes work at a higher voltage - which is of course needed to power the doorbell. So you might need a different chime, or do away with it completely.

If you have google minis, they work well as a chime, we had a similar chime voltage issue and just did away with it

I don't have a mini but may look at getting one if the chime has bit the dust lol

Doorbell has worked seamlessly through the night with no dropouts, haven't checked if the chime is working again yet though
