.NET framework and Catalyst Control Panel???

probably because its the official stuff that comes from ati which should in theory not require and crappy pre-requisits like .net framework to work properly.

Errr wtf dude, in theory?

When something is written in .NET it needs the runtimes to be able to run. So in theory it does need it.

Just download the official display drivers on their own from the ATi site, and get ATi Tray Tools from Guru, yer sorted, and still using official drivers.

why did ati use .net to begin with? must be easier to program with im guessing since the framework is already there and all you have to do is build upon it.

Its not just ATi using .NET, they were first to use it, but now Nvidia are using .NET, its just like SM3.0, Nvidia were first with it on cards, then ATi started putting it on cards, ATi were using .NET first, now Nvidia are using .NET.

Both were going the .NET route anyway, just ATi started first.

Afaik the new NV control panel doesn't use .NET. May be different in Vista, but in XP its still glorious C++.
