Nasty one that is, made worse by the fact that I'm sure I recognised the quote from somewhere but couldn't place it. The text itself is mostly irrelevant and the clue to the answer isn't particularly easy to spot

/EDIT - "the hyphen is significant" is about all I can say without giving too much away too soon.

firstly, apologies to anyone who I spoilt the riddle for (by giving a link to the answers for stage 1), for those of you, like me, who are now stuck on section 2.8 read below! On another internet forum a user has had an email reply from the guy running the net riddle site....

section 2.8

"Thank you for your comments about the site, it is nice to hear from people
who aren't just complaining about spelling mistakes or being rude when they can't get the answer!

Unfortunately, this will probably add to your misery because it seems 2.8 is a missing link. We've had so many emails from people asking for hints and saying they can't get past it, so we are pretty sure it's broken. I am currently kicking the ass of the guys in charge to fix it, so it shouldn't be too long. Sorry for the delay, and good luck with the rest of it."
 
Take the diff between the numbers and move that many positions along the letters, wrapping around at the end, first letter is T, the second is H etc.

This (almost) decodes into a riddle. The 'almost' bit may be significant as may the 'or'.

Ok, I've decoded it now and I know what it's 'meant' to say although I haven't got an answer yet. Have you done this riddle and the second part of your post is a hint or are still stuck?
 
I decoded the message ages ago ;) but been stuck with what the hell to type in :mad:

Any ideas...I think i've been through all the words in the thesarus!!

If the rest of these riddles are anything to go by I'd say that all of the factors below are quite probably significant

1) It doesn't decode cleanly
2) The "or" in the riddle
3) The *'s in the numeric part which until now have been conveniently ignored.

As for how they're relevant I've no idea but there you go....

Just out of interest did you decode the message to read with c's instead of a's or did you get something slightly different as the other mentions of this that I've seen have a differntl decoding to mine which I can't replicate exactly.
 
I found it hcrd to decode ;)

I read somewhere on another forum that a netriddle admin said "we were all going in the wrong direction!!" :confused:

Obscure or what?!

I don't trust the a = c replacement using the numbers - i.e. sometimes not using 0 (when calculating the difference) to suit the sentence! The "Or" must be of some significance and what about that highlighted advert?

This damn riddle is driving me mad!
