netbook gaming?

counterstrike doesn't need a crack - it runs via Steam.

Apart from that, it would be against forum rules to even suggest were to look for game protection circumvention.

iirc, an Unreal 2k4 patch removed the need for a cd

Important Update: As of the 3204 Patch onwards, UT2004 no longer checks for the presence of your game CD in the drive. That effectively means the game now has a "built-in" No-CD patch, which means you don't need to download and install any other No-CD patches, executables or cracks from anywhere else.

So aren't all games I download from steam going to work without a cd-rom? sorry if that is indeed a stupid question. I am not quite awake, It's still early where I am at. And yes, I have never used steam before.

would counter strike condition zero run okay on a netbook you think? or just stick with the original? and do people still play it online?

Yes they do.

And start using it, it's great!

On a slightly related note, the following list is for games that work on the original Eee PC (and it's not necessarily about need/not needing CD hence slightly related)...

http://wiki.eeeuser.com/list:games

That particular notebook only had a screen res of 800 x 480 which is lower than modern netbooks but if it works there then chances are it should work on more recent higher res netbooks.

Bumping so I don't have to start a new thread but,...

What is the best counterstrike game for a netbook in terms of running smooth but still having plenty of people to play with online?

Nevermind... thanks for the link timko. exactly what I needed.
