Netbook Wireless Connectivity Problem

Hi guys,

My GF has just acquired an Acer Netbook, running "Windows 7 Starter Edition"

She has AVG internet security/firewall etc installed.

I've connected wirelessly to my router, and it seems to connect to the 'net fine, then after a few minutes, it drops off - you can click on "connect" and it reconnects, only to drop off a few minutes later.

My laptop connects perfectly and has no "dropping off" problems.

Having researched online, I "disabled" IPHELPER which was supposedly a potential problem, but it's not resolved it.

Any ideas?

Thanks! :)

I'm at work, so can't go onto the netbook to discover the network adaptor name/type - had thought this might be a windows problem?

I had similar, on Power Saver mode it set the wireless card to minimum performance, this would lead to it either failing to connect or dropping often. Setting this to max performance gave a steady connection.

I would also just make sure drivers are up to date, always helps though shouldn't be the problem here. Case i had was I could connect to my access point fine but would fail to connect to my friends one at all until drivers were updated.
