Netflix is going up to £9.99 & £13.99 next month

Saw this on MSE. Luckily the £5.99 package is staying the same. I don't utilise it enough to warrant HD.
Am on the £11.99 (13.99) package for 4k
But i may drop it down to the standard HD £8.99 (9.99) package as i watch very little on netflix but it is used all the time by my nieces & nephews..

They want to get the bitrate increased again if a price increase is happening, they dropped it last year due to 'lockdown' and people staying at home and haven't increased it but claim they've found better compression and bitrate but shows still don't look as good as they used to, example 4k videos used to average 25mbps according to the Netflix info window, now it's down to 4.5mbps and doesn't increase.
Don't think netflix has ever been 25mbps...If i remember right 4k was 16mbps (or 15.9mbps) then they dropped it in the lock down to around 8mbps

I don't know what it was after the lock down as i mainly gave up watching stuff on there after they dropped the bitrate
(The Apple 4k ATV is over 20mbps or it was before the lockdown)

EDIT: Think your getting mixed up with the recommend internet connection speed needed for netflix 4K ;)
Netflix’s 4K bitrate maxes out at 16Mbps. That said, the service requires at least 25Mbs to stream 4K content.

It definitely used to max out at 25mbps as confirmed by Netflix support when I was having a issue and they rang me from the US to go through it, they did drop it down to 15mbps then since they changed the bitrate again it hasn't gone back up.
I have only ever seen 15.9mbps with my 4K package

And also all the links i looked at by googling say netflix max was 16mbps

Even the netflix techblog says 16mbps Optimized shot-based encodes for 4K: Now streaming! | by Netflix Technology Blog | Netflix TechBlog
The premium bitstreams, launched several years ago, were rolled out with a fixed-bitrate ladder, with fixed 4K resolution bitrates — 8, 10, 12 and 16 Mbps — regardless of content characteristics.

So disc is still king.

The BBC version of 4K is really good when they show it.
Disc is always king but there no way it worth paying the crazy prices for them compared to a 4K ATV..

If i remember right i paid £300 for 16 4k Discs and my 100 4k movies on my ATV cost me £300
Them 16 4K discs are all now just collecting dust in the Loft :D

Disney's price rise includes introducing stuff for adults in the form of 'STAR', which actually means I might watch some stuff on there:

Guernsey? It's supposed to be available in channel Islands. It is just the apps that aren't available?

Can you just get the apk from a different store or elsewhere?
Yes it the apps that not available in guernsey on Android devices

You maybe about to side load them but am not willing to chance doing that on a TV that cost £3600

You would spend that much and then not dare install apps on it? Seems odd to me, but your call I guess. I know on my Sony it didn't involve altering the OS in any way, I literally just installed the Apk and off it went...

Or, just install on your phone and cast... I often do that anyway, even when there's the app on my TV.
I installed many apps from the google store but none that i downloaded myself from the internet

Have you got a link for the Disney+ & Apple TV Apk TV apps to side load?

No, I have it in the Play Store, but I would just head to APK Mirror or one of the other trusted/reputable sites.
I may try this one later DISNEY+ 1.12.0, Ready to download and install a new apk | AVForums
I think something else is up here, @chaparral. It's not saying it's not available in your territory, like here :
https://help.disneyplus.com/csp?id=csp_article_content&sys_kb_id=0a31d5e8db2058d02e27eadc13961919

It's saying it's not available for your devices. And there's no way it's not available for your phones.

Have you checked the Amazon app store to see if you can download there?
One my family members also has an android mobile phone (It a Samsung S8 or S9) so am going to see if it available on there phone

I know the AppleTv app is on my Amazon 4K firestick, I will have to check to see if it also has Disney+ (i think it does)
