That wasn't how they legitimised it initially though.Wouldn't have thought so as we're still on lockdown.

If they can get away with it, possibly never. As long as people as prepared to keep paying their original subscription fee for a reduction in quality, they'll keep doing it. At the end of the day, they are in this to make money.Has anyone got any idea when this ridiculous cap is going to be lifted?
Maybe we could have it lifted at night and Facebook (which uses far more bandwidth) turned off instead.
I'll be cancelling my netflix plan soon if they don't give back the max bit rate, fair enough if it is for a month or 2 but any longer than that, no thanks. I didn't pay for the ability to use it on more than 1 device nor for any of the other extras, I only paid to get the best quality they offered and well that is no longer being offered and it is noticeable on good tvs.
Either give a discount on each month until it returns to original bit rate or drop packages to match what is likely to be the new standard going forward.
Won't be a big loss for myself tbh as I can get the content elsewhere.....

You're sooo cool ...
You're sooo cool ...
Indeed.Why is he 'so cool'?
Why would you expect to keep paying full price for a shoddy service?
But have you told them you're not happy with being treated this way?I know, I really am, thanks
Indeed.
Like I said, understandable and fair enough for the first month or 2 but after that, em, no thanks, I'm not going to pay the same price for getting lesser quality than what I was before this....

This is an interesting point - I think if people really think it's unacceptable to lower quality, they need to feedback to the provider. But in this case it's not like Netflix can change a setting on your account to enable full bandwidth.Yup I went on the chat after this was announced to say are we going to get any form of a discount if this continues for longer than 30 days and the response was, we will review it after then and decide what to do.
But good point, will be contacting them tomorrow to say I'll be cancelling if they aren't going to revert back or at least offer some of a discount, like I said above, it won't be a loss for myself if I do cancel it.
It’s like going into a pub, ordering a pint and getting three quarters of a pint, and then the barman saying that it’s because they’re very busy and lots of people want the lager, but it’s still £4. Not acceptable.
Maybe not at the distribution, but locally they definitely are. I've been getting typically 7Mbps during work hours. I've been on 50Mbps for 4 years and generally always been able to get exactly that, aside from the odd school holiday. Not one single UK ISP has had capacity issues.
