I have multistatic IP on UKFSN, my router has a static IP which is assigned by the ISP, but i also get the option to get the DNS server automatically or put a static one in (prim and secondary)

shall i leave it as auto? also iv been using the subnet 255.255.255.255, as i found out this should be 249 at the end but i cant find anywhere in this router to statically assign the subnet.

On auto the router will pick up the corret DNS servers from your ISP and the ISP can change them without you needing to reconfigure the router. Auto is usually good!.

On the subnet thing unless your reconfiguring your router to issue the rest of your static IP's to your internal network then its going to use NAT and DHCP for your LAN. If so then IP, subnet etc on the land side should be on auto.

What would you like to do your static IP's?

yup you need to turn off nat and it should give you an option to give it manual settings. note the WAN side of the connection stays the same. I'm assuming you only have 6 useable addresses (well 5 if you count the one for the netgear)?

im sure the subnet should be 248 at the end, the router would have to be configured for full routing, there may be no firewall in this config mind you.

This would allow 5 clients to have individual Public IP addresses, 3 are taken up by router, network and broadcast addresses.

IIRC the draytek I had only allowed full routing for wired clients. netgear may be different, the 3 taken up by the router, network and broadcast are compulsory and cannot be changed or it wouldn't work

Turned off NAT, the router has a static external address, iv manually put in both DNS server ip's but still get no way of entering subnet, status page stills says im using...

IP Subnet Mask 255.255.255.255

In the help bit it says

nternet IP Address

If you log in to your service or your ISP did not provide you with a fixed IP address, the Router will find an IP address for you automatically when you connect. Select Get Dynamically From ISP.

If you have a fixed (or static IP) address, your ISP will have provided you with the required information. Select Use Static IP Address and type the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Gateway IP Address into the correct fields.

For example:

* IP Address: 24.218.156.183
* Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
* Gateway IP Address: 24.218.156.1

Domain Name Server (DNS) Address

The DNS server is used to look up site addresses based on their names.

If your ISP gave you one or two DNS addresses, select Use These DNS Servers and type the primary and secondary addresses.

Otherwise, select Get Automatically From ISP.

Note: If you get 'Address not found' errors when you go to a Web site, it is likely that your DNS servers aren't set up properly. You should contact your ISP to get DNS server addresses.

NAT (Network Address Translation)

NAT allows all LAN PCs to gain Internet access via this Router, by sharing this Router's WAN IP address. In most situations, NAT is essential for Internet access via this Router. You should only disable NAT if you are sure you do not require it. When NAT is disabled, only standard routing is performed by this Router.

Dont see any options for this though?

you are looking under WAN setup, that stays the same (except you turn NAT off) it will probably be under LAN setup. Not sure of the layout of your router, screenshot or menu options?
