Just got into the world of wireless today.

Got my Netgear DG834G delivered and set it up (after remembering I must install lan drivers on my mobo 1st, took me ages to remember that, head hitting wall)

Anyhow, Even when i am not surfing or doing anything, on the router, number 1 (thats what the cable RJ45 LAN plugs into my computer from router) keeps flashing quickly, now i can surf and all that fine, but why is it always flashing ?

Also, I let everything set up automatically, is there anything else i should do for better security etc ?

Just curious about this flashing light. Connected at normal speed as in, same speed as when i was using my USB Speedtouch broadband modem ?

thank you

I could understand that if the PC was doing something, but its not, its sat still. doing nothing, no updates, no virus updates etc, not checking emails, just sat there doing nothing ?

Perhaps its normal then.

Download DU meter (google it) and check if you got any packets going out or coming in. If you have not, ignore. If you have, you might have some kinda of backdoor/virus :)

If it's flickering, odds are there is traffic going in and out (ergo anything counting packets is going to increase). Whether that's anything interesting is debatable.
As easy just to ignore it.
