This thread will probably get moved to the correct section (Networking) when a don sees it so expect to find it there.

You're right, the router can't connect to the internet unless it has your ID and password. The installation wizard should have done this for you but you can do it manually by logging on to the router's web interface which is probably at 192.168.1.1. It may be that the wireless is disabled by default although that's unusual. There should be a full user manual on the CD that comes with the router so work though that.

right i have gone through the manual and my isp is pppoa so i need to configure it on the router but typing in its ip in explorer brings up the setup but it wont give me the option to config it for pppoa.

ok i have setup for pppoa using all the info pipex would give me on their site but still the internet light will not light up on the router, i got wireless working and onto the manual configure page

The router status page seems to show that there's no ADSL connection so it's not surprising nothing's happening. Can you put your USB modem back in and check that that still works?

And would it be possible for you to use a hosting site that doesn't use pop-ups? They won't encourage people to help you.

filters in place, unplugged all phones, router directly into main jack even tryed test jack behind the face plate still nothing, rang pipex they did a line check i explaned the adsl light flashing on my usb modem and they did lots of checks he said their was a problem with my line something about it not authenticating so he has sent a report off to bt for them to check and fix.

i got not popups, but i use firefox

btw nice daystate i have an air arms s410 carbine :)

Ah good. So it looks like you were doing everything right and it's BT's problem. It makes a change to see a line check that actually finds a fault. Every few months my connection becomes as stable as runny jelly for 48 hours and Plus can't see any fault at all.

I've a few more airguns and I must start rotating the photo's. I'm running a gun shop for the next two weeks so I get to play with anything I want. First job for next week is to dismantle an S410c as it won't ****.

If it's a new router it might be worth updating the firmware to, i spent 3 hours trying to make a modem/router work with a BT connection only to find a firmware update fixed the problem.

Aside from the fault you mentioned of course if you still have problems....

have updated the firmware already no luck :(

Snapshot i been looking for a new rifle i like the look of stealths but something abit cheaper in 177 does the place you work at have a inet site?

from the looks of that first pic your lines not got adsl active yet. as i
cant see any date connection to the modem. even if you don't have
the adsl isp settings in. you will still see the data connection to the
modem info.

ie this bit
http://i8.tinypic.com/6gm17co.jpg

i can confirm it if you show me the show statistics window

also check your line. see if its got a tone becoz some times when bt turn
your line to adsl they can kill it. ive seen this happen be for. if you can here
the tone then its just a matter if waiting. but i would ring pipex up and see
whats going on.

Not yet. You'd have to come up to Devizes to visit us. We have a 25 yard indoor range so you can try before you buy. We'd better take this to email before the dons claim I'm a competitor....

Tosk, please read the whole thread. The OP was switching from a USB modem to a router so had working ADSL at that time. He has already run Pipex who have confirmed a fault.

in 308 rounds :D nice

well bt bloke came out this morning and the line checked out perfect getting 7.4mbs on an upto 8mb line no errors or nothing, turns out to be my modem, 2 dud modems!!! something currupted my drivers on my usb modem making the adsl light flash all the time got it working fine now, gonna try the router in a mo see how things go

Log into your router by typing http://192.168.0.1. in the address bar of your browser, default login should be admin and password if you havent changed them. Run the setup wizard, enter your username and password as given to you by Pipex. Should automatically connect.
