I've got a friend who has rubbish Wi-Fi, he has a big old house (thick walls) and he asked me to fit something for him to improve it (just for beer money, it's not my living, I'm far from a network expert!!!).
I fitted 3 Unifi AP Long Range Extenders, along with the POE router in his plant room, superb, works flawlessly, Wi-Fi in the back garden now and everywhere else it was ropey before is now perfect.
In his TV room he has a Dune Media Player and a Humax Freesat box, both connected to the network via a Netgear GS105 which is connect to a wallplate.
Here's the rub, we've tried 2 of these switches and neither works (lights are on but nothing), but both devices work individually when connected to the wallplate.
Changed cables, switches (only for same type) and it only works when one of the two devices is direct to the wall, as soon as the GS105 comes into the mix both the Dune and Humax lose connection.
The thought of 2 brand new switches being faulty is so slim, both work in another room with a laptop.
The only thing we haven't tried in this location is a new wallplate, another brand of switch........any one know what it could be?
Cheers
