Hello,

I live in quite a big house and the router signal could be better, i have a couple spare routers that look like this;

Is there a way to use one or two of these around the house as a signal booster?

If so, how?

Thanks all
Chris

Look underneath the routers, they should have a Model number on them. If you post this people can find out its capabilities and help you better.

Someone correct me if im wrong, but on these you can go 2 ways:

1. Some of them actually have a "Repeater" / "Wireless extender" operation mode you can choose in the GUI. You just then point it at the primary AP' IP (192.168.0.1 for example) and presto chango (Bear in mind i did this on "a Netgear" about 4 years ago).

2. Set it to an access point, but disable DHCP server mode and forward DHCP queries to again primary AP (192.168.0.1). Then cable the 2 AP's together using Cat5e (ethernet cable), i recommend using homeplugs this way you have a lack of trailing wires.

HTH.
