Hi

I have got a Netgear GS348T switch and I am trying to configure a VLAN but it isn't working. I have configured the VLAN on my Draytek router with a VLAN ID 101 and got DHCP running and also added it to the switch

I have got my switch configured below

Default VLAN ID 1
All ports untagged apart from port 47 which is removed

VLAN ID 101
Port 48 tagged with the VLAN and port 47 untagged

Can anyone shed any light on why when I plug a device into port 47 I don't get an IP from the DHCP I have configured. I must have it configured incorrectly but I can't see how

Cheers

Sorry I probably didn't describe it very well, Port 48 is the Trunk port from the Draytek and port 47 is untagged on vlan 101 which I believe should give me an IP from the dhcp on vlan 101?

47 should be tagging on vlan 101...if the trunk port is set to carry all vlans then that's correct.. Or 1 and 101 is fine. Is the vlan created on the draytek? Do you have to create a sub interface in them? I'm not to familiar with them

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from the looks of it, if port 48 is the only one tagged as 101 then surely it's only that port that will give an IP from the VLAN DHCP server. Move the cable going from the router to an untagged port, then plug something into 48 and see if it receives the right IP, seeing it's already tagged for 101.

48 is the trunk link which has to carry both his vlans. 47 should be 101 and 1-46 should be vlan 1. If the draytek side is configured correctly that should be it.

Then from his opening post he has the ports tagged wrong. He mentioned All ports apart from 47 and 48 are tagged with 1. 47 is untagged, and 48 is tagged as 101. Shouldn't 47 be tagged with 101 as well?

If it was Cisco you would be configuring the sub interfaces on the uplink trunk port, the vlans and the ip addresses for each vlan gateway. Set your Dot1q per vlan. I haven't used draytek equipment to know the excat config but I'm sure it's similar

Based on this comment don't think they did? They did mentioned "untagged on vlan 101" but I suspect they tagged 48 with 101, and expect untagged ports to follow 48's VLAN settings since it's the trunk.
