How are you supposed to use netsend properly?

I have a home network with file and print sharing enabled. However everytime I try to send a message to an individual ip address I get an error saying "the message alias could not be found on the network".

Thanks, thats fixed it. Why ms never had it automatically start to save lots of effort, I will never know.

Are there any over interesting networking features that windows has built in?

It used to autostart but then it also used to get exploited for pop-up adverts so on balance it is better not having it running if you don't need it.

Personally I think they should have just made windows more secure in the first place, rather than disabling all it's features. Thats just counter-productive.

I doubt he'd get an adverts through it these days, I had it activated for a few builds for years and not one advert.

I would have assumed most people would have stopped trying now... Messenger service has been disabled by default for a long time now.

If i remember correctly (big if) you can send a message to 255.255.255.255 and it will be delivered to all clients.
