nettles

Calomine lotion works pretty well or cold cream as already suggested. Dock leaves are a good immediate salve but they don't tend to last too long and are a bit inconvenient if you are going to be moving at all.

Dock leaves are useless. You can all go on believing they work if you like, but there's jack all to prove that rubbing dock leaves on a sting does anything to relieve the symptoms. :)
Docks just happen the always grow near nettles.

The best proven method of relieving the stinging is a thorough application of English mustard.

ITs the day after though, shouldnt it not hurt or itch any more?
Yeh, that's what I thought. Usually a shower does the job for me, although nettles have never really been much of a problem, even when I've fallen into a nettle bed :o, they don't sting, they just itch.

I suppose it's possible that the dock leaves help as they're astringent, but they're also slightly acidic, which should make the sting worse /shrug.

Antihistermine and/or insect bite cream does wonders for stinging nettle stings
Bang On!, yes, nettles use histamines as their stings so anti-histamines are clearly the solution :).

Naughty naughty :p.

Bicarbonate of soda would be better than doc leaves, but if using doc leaves then rub the crushed leaf, vein-side down, across the affected part.

Errm! Vinegar works tbh. Have always used it as a child and this was taken from Country Cures :-

Take a dock leaf, scrunch it up a little and spit on it and wipe on the sting. Either that or vinegar, if you are near home.'

Again as with dock leaves vinegar is acidic so shouldn't work either

Don't know if your'e being sarcastic there, but having grown up in the country, after getting stung by nettles countless times- rubbing dock leaves DOES work whether "proved" or not in your opinion. It's one of those natural remedies passed down through generations.

Hmm, well i can safely say that the blasted thing still itches a little bit, and every time i knock it, it flairs up again.

The other hand thats gashed open is getting a bit pussie and is starting to be quite anoying! Bah, no BF2 today!

Dunno, was quite drunk at the time, and i dont really remember doing it :D I am assuming its nettles as the a loads of little red spots around the wrist. Heh, managed to get all the blood off my jeans though. It looked like i had killed someone by the time i got home :D

If its hurting the next morning, it aint stinging nettles...

Wrong. Recently, on a drunken night I fell off a ledge into stinging nettles. The following day I went to the doctors to check I hadn't broken anything (like my back) because of the tingling. Back was fine (ish) and the tingling was the nettle stings. They lasted about 30 hours.
