I have just built a new rig, with all new components & Vista 64bit.

Although my network adapter ( A linksys usb one ) is from my old xp rig and worked fine in that.

When i install the drivers then plug the adapter in it fails to see that there are drivers installed for the device.

I've tried downloading the "Vista" Drivers from the linksys site, but to no avail.

So i've decided that i'm going to get a new network adapter as this one can go elsewhere :p

Just wondering which wireless ones work with Vista 64-bit (And which you would reccomend for around £20-30), and will they all work receiving the signal from a linksys router ( i'm guessing that doesn't matter, it's only brand )

Oh, and also. Which would be better, another usb wireless adapter or a PCI one.

Cheers

USB's only advantage is that it can be moved from one PC to another. Other than in situations where this is required you're always best off going with PCI/PCIe. As far as compatibility with a router is concerned as long as it supports an RJ45 connection it will work with anything else that supports an RJ45 connection. If you have a PCIe 1x slot then This should work well. if it's got to be PCI then intel do a PCI version but OCUK don't seem to stock it but other sites may do.

Ahh. That's a wired one. I need a wireless one to receive a wireless-g signal from downstairs.

Pci still the best option?

There's not much in it between USB and PCi performance wise as long as you have USB2. I personaly go for USB adaptors on the end of a 1 meter extension so I can position them to get a better signal.

I'd edit your opening post to say you want wireless before you confuse more people.

Ahh ok, looks like i'll go for a usb one then. Now if anyone could just help regarding Vista 64-bit compatible ones to receive a signal from my linksys wireless-g router.
