network address translation

hello i have netgear router configured to share my internet connection and xbox live. it all works great except that i would like to change my network address translation from strict to moderate. how can i do this?

Do you just mean that you want to get the Xbox working so you can act as a server?

If that's the case then you need to forward 2 ports to the Xbox IP address or just turn on the UPnP feature in the router. ( http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/N100981.asp )

Forward the ports manually and keep UPnP disabled if possible. The reason is that programs on any of the PC's on your network can open ports for themselves without even telling which is a secruity risk.

If they were on my network then none of them would be a risk! If they were, they wouldn't be on the network. But that's just me. :rolleyes:
